Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 24, 2023

At Secure Options, our core mission is protecting your data and privacy from external threats. This commitment extends to how we handle your data internally. This Privacy Policy details what data we collect, why we need it to protect you, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data Collection for Threat Analysis

To provide effective security, Secure Options must analyze files and network traffic. We use advanced local heuristic analysis to minimize data transmitted to our servers. However, when an unknown executable or suspicious pattern is detected, we may collect:

  • Hashes (e.g., SHA-256) of suspicious executable files.
  • Anonymized telemetry regarding the execution behavior of the file.
  • Network connection attempt details (IP, Port) from the suspicious process.

Crucially: We do NOT upload your personal documents (Word, PDF, images) to our servers unless explicitly requested by you for analysis.

2. Account and Billing Data

When you purchase a Secure Options license, we collect basic account information necessary for service delivery:

  • Name and email address.
  • Payment processing information (handled securely via third-party processors; we do not store full credit card numbers).
  • Device identifiers (hardware IDs) solely for license enforcement and device management within your console.

3. VPN Usage Data (No-Logs Policy)

If your plan includes the Secure Options Secure VPN, we operate under a strict zero-logs policy:

  • We do NOT log your browsing history, DNS queries, or traffic destination.
  • We do NOT log your original IP address or the VPN IP address assigned to you.
  • We only monitor aggregated, anonymized server load to optimize network performance.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers or data brokers. We may share anonymized threat hashes with collaborative cybersecurity alliances to improve global internet safety, but this data never contains identifiable personal information.

5. User Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you possess specific rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal data ("Right to be Forgotten"). Note that deleting account data will terminate your active protection.
  • The right to opt-out of optional telemetry collection (can be toggled within the Secure Options application settings).

6. Contacting the Privacy Team

For privacy-related inquiries, data access requests, or deletion requests, please contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@secureoptions.online.
